Harris defended the economic policies
In her first interview since becoming the Democratic presidential nominee, US Vice President Kamala Harris defended her economic and immigration record and also attacked former President Donald Trump.
Ms. Harris claimed that the Biden administration was able to “recover the economy” after the pandemic and that illegal border crossings have decreased in recent months.
He described the White House’s economic policy as a “success,” citing lower prescription drug costs and the unemployment rate: “That’s great work. “There’s more to do.”
CNN’s Dana Bash conducted a pre-recorded interview Thursday in Savannah, Georgia. Ms. Harris attended with her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.
Ms. Harris also denied that her policy beliefs had changed and reiterated her commitment to serve as president “for all Americans.”
“I think the most important and significant aspect of my policy views and decisions is that my values haven’t changed,” he commented when asked why his positions have shifted in recent years.
Her opponent, Donald Trump, characterized the interview with Ms. Harris as pre-recorded and included Mr. Walz.
Harris was asked about his position on fracking and climate change.
Ms. Harris cited her efforts to fight climate change and support for the Green New Deal, a Democratic initiative to reduce dependence on fossil fuels, as examples of unwavering values.

Pavel Durov Telegram CEO’s arrest in Russia
Pavel Durov, the millionaire who was born in Russia and created the messaging program Telegram, was detained on arrival in Paris on Saturday night, and since then, there has been more talk than action regarding his whereabouts.
“The arrest (or detention) of ‘Russia’s Zuckerberg, Pavel Durov, is one of the most important, but mysterious global news stories,” Nezavisimaya Gazeta said in its headline.
“I’ve always believed, and I’ve worked on it, that the climate crisis is real, that it’s an urgent matter,” he told the crowd.
The vice president cited the Biden administration’s efforts in the Inflation Reduction Act, which directed billions of dollars toward renewable energy and electric vehicle tax credits and rebate programs.
“We set targets for the United States, and by extension the world, at a time when certain criteria should be met for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.”
Ms Harris did not explain her decision to lift a ban on fracking, a technology to extract gas and oil from shale rock used by a sector particularly powerful in the battleground state of Pennsylvania.
During a CNN town hall in 2019, Ms. Harris said, “There’s no question I’m in favor of banning fracking.” However, after becoming vice president, he changed his stance, including casting the tie-breaking vote in the Senate on additional fracking licenses.
In her CNN interview Thursday, Clinton said, “As president, I will not ban fracking.”
According to campaign spokesman Brian Fallon, the Biden administration’s “clean energy investments have proven its ability to make progress on climate regardless of past positions” on social media.
Immigration Policy Change ‘To Build Consensus’
“On securing our borders,” Ms. Harris reiterated that “my values have not changed” and the California attorney general cited her work as “prosecuting transnational, criminal organizations.”
However, Ms. Harris previously supported more progressive immigration views as a senator and during her 2020 presidential campaign. He previously campaigned for the closure of immigration detention facilities and the criminalization of illegal crossings.
Earlier this year, however, he supported a tough bipartisan border security deal that included tens of millions of dollars in border wall construction.
Trump has pressured Republicans in Congress to kill the deal, but if elected, Harris has promised to “sign it into law.”
Explaining his moderate immigration stance, the Democratic nominee told CNN that his travels around the country as vice president have taught him that “it’s important to build consensus and find a common ground of understanding about where we can actually solve problems.”
Along these lines, Ms. Harris promised to include someone “who is a Republican” in her presidential cabinet. He said it would fulfill his promise to be president “for all Americans.”
“Throughout my career, I have encouraged diversity of opinion. I believe it is important to bring different perspectives to the table when making some important decisions.”
Ms. Harris was also asked about the Gaza war, and she reiterated the White House’s position that both Israel and Hamas “need to make a deal” and that the Palestinians deserve their own country alongside Israel.
“This war must end, and we must get an agreement that is about getting the hostages out,” he told the audience.
Mr Walz, who has served in the US National Guard for decades, was asked to explain a statement he made in which he said he had “carried” an assault rifle “into combat”.
The campaign has already said Mr Walz has never been in a conflict zone. In the interview, the governor said he was “speaking passionately” about the issue of gun crime in schools and wore “his emotions on his sleeve” when he made the wrongful comment.
He said his record speaks for itself, noting that “the contrast could not be clearer” between the two campaigns.
Republicans and analysts have so far criticized Harris for not holding a press conference or in-depth interview as the nominee. His detractors claim he is avoiding challenging his record.
His appearance on CNN was President Joe Biden’s first significant interview since withdrawing from the presidential campaign on July 21. Miss Harris promised about three weeks ago to schedule an interview for late August.
In an interview with the Daily Mail on Thursday, former President Trump declined to be interviewed by CNN.
“Why isn’t it live?” he asked. “It’s not a live interview. It’s an interview that’s going to be recorded, edited and then released. So, it’s not even an interview. Then he’s doing it with his vice president (designate) sitting nearby.”

US Court Calls Google
Google supported the Obama network neutrality policy and he failed to adopt the congruent Pasquale policy of search neutrality.
On August 5, 2024, the US Court for the District of Columbia (DC) decided that Google was a monopolist, meaning it has durable market power as the dominant player in its field of “general search services”. This is a violation of competition law.
Ms. Bash, the CNN journalist who interviewed Ms. Harris and Mr. Walz, served as a moderator for the June 27 debate between Mr. Biden and Mr. Trump.
Mr. Biden’s performance in that debate was widely seen as the catalyst for the president’s withdrawal from the race.
Ms. Harris’ final television interview was with CNN‘s Anderson Cooper shortly after the June debate.
Harris’ campaign focused on new battlegrounds.
The Harris-Walz team is following the interview with a bus tour of Georgia, a key southern state where Mr. Biden narrowly defeated Trump in 2020, the first time a Democrat won the state since Bill Clinton in 1992.
Polling indicates that the presidential race is tightening again in Georgia, a state that Democrats considered slipping during Mr. Biden’s re-election campaign.
Ms. Harris is in Savannah Thursday for a campaign rally at the state’s oldest historically black college
The event coincides with a significant outreach push aimed at young voters. The campaign plans to hold events on university campuses in key battleground states like Georgia to persuade young Americans to vote in November.
