However, other relief organizations denounced the US military pier as a diversion, arguing that the US ought to have put more pressure on Israel to open more land crossings so that aid could get through them more swiftly and effectively.
Although land crossings are the most effective means of delivering aid to Gaza, the Israeli military has long restricted access points and hampered deliveries because of inspections. Attacks by the Israeli military, Hamas, and robbers who depleted supply convoys also terrified aid organizations. According to Power, there have been over 278 worker deaths in the fighting.
There will be concerns about whether officials misjudged the ongoing weather issues and security obstacles that hampered the operation when the Pentagon and the Army assess how well the pier performed.
At Joint Base Langley-Eustis in Virginia, the Army’s 7th Transportation Brigade (Expeditionary) is in charge of the system. A range of 40-foot-long (12-meter-long) steel components that can be put together to build a pier and causeway makes it resemble a massive LEGO system.
It’s uncertain if American forces were sufficiently equipped to withstand the erratic and stormy weather in the Gaza Strip. The weather damaged the pier on the Gaza coast nine days after it was built, necessitating its dismantling and transportation to the Israeli port of Ashdod for more than two weeks while repairs were made.
Due to bad weather, soldiers had to transfer the pier to Ashdod and disconnect it from the beach twice more. On June 28, it was finally removed, and bad weather made it impossible for the United States to put it back.

Relief organizations found it difficult to get supplies into Gaza from the pier, and their work was abruptly stopped on June 8th when an Israeli military operation resulted in the release of four hostages but the deaths of hundreds of Palestinians.
The captives were flown out of the helicopter by the troops using a spot close to the dock. For humanitarian organizations, which depend on their independence and separation from troops in order to be safe, it presents issues to have even a small portion of an Israeli military operation so near to the pier.
Consequently, the United Nations halted all World Food Program shipments while conducting an as-yet-undisclosed evaluation. The WFP staff paid contractors to transfer aid that had accumulated on shore to warehouses so it wouldn’t spoil, but they haven’t provided help from the pier since.
