Kamala Harris has emerged as the party

With the backing of most Democratic delegates, Vice President Kamala Harris has emerged as the party’s presidential contender.

She has garnered the support of more than the 1,976 delegates required to clinch the nomination in the first round of voting, according to an Associated Press survey released on Monday night.

That implies that Ms. Kamala Harris is poised to become the party’s standard bearer and challenge Republican nominee Donald Trump in the presidential election that takes place in November.

When party delegates vote by roll call in advance of the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Chicago the following month, it officially becomes official.

Those chosen to represent their electoral region are known as delegates. Until the vote, their support vows are not legally obligatory, but they are unlikely to alter.

Since the withdrawal of President Joe Biden from the campaign on Sunday, no one has openly declared their intention to challenge Ms. Kamala Harris.

Senior party members began to put increasing pressure on him after his clumsy debate performance against Trump.

In the event that the number remains unchanged between now and the delegates’ vote, which is set for August 1–7, Ms. Harris would legally secure the party’s candidacy.

The AP poll shows the wave of support that has been shown for Ms. Kamala Harris since President Joe Biden withdrew from the race on Sunday.

Millions of dollars have been donated to Biden’s campaign since his declaration, and prominent Democrats have gathered to back her as the Democratic nominee.

During her Monday night speech to employees at her campaign headquarters in Wilmington, Delaware, Ms. Harris made clear that she was targeting Trump.

“I know Donald Trump‘s type,” she continued, referring to her early work as a California prosecutor where she took on pedophiles and scammers.

Mr. Biden’s achievements

According to her, the Biden-Harris campaign has always been about Trump’s and their respective visions for the future of the nation.

“One focuses on the future, the other focuses on the past,” she stated. “Donald Trump wants to take our country backwards… we believe in a brighter future that makes room for all Americans.”

In addition, she praised Mr. Biden’s achievements, calling her tenure as his vice president “one of the greatest honors of my life.”
